Dog Bed Bedlam

Here is one I haven't quite figured out yet.  On about 3 or 4 occasions, we have come home or woken up to the destruction of a dog bed.  Stuffing is everywhere throughout the room.  Like this one from a few weeks ago.

These nice comfortable beds are for sleeping on not tearing up.  We got one with a foam cushion to put in the crate with Charlie while we are gone to work.  He tore it up within the week.

We have probably spent about $150 dollars on dog beds since getting Charlie a year and a half ago.

The Comforter Casualty

In yet another act of destruction, the dogs turned their aggression onto the comforter of the guest bedroom.  Both the sheet and the comforter were found on the ground.  A large hole allowed Charlie to access the sweet stuffing inside.

The Furniture Fiasco

When I finished Grad School and moved into my apartment, my first purchase was a couch.  That couch, while cheap, lasted for three years until Charlie got a hold of it.  One day, I came home from work to find the guts of my couch spread across the floor.  Now the couch sits with a giant hole in one cushion.  We have re-stuffed the couch several times only to have it de-stuffed again.

Total Cost of Destruction: $250

The Carpet Catastrophe

I can't tell you how many times I come home from work, open the door and my jaw drops immediately.  When Charlie gets bored, he goes a little crazy.  One day, I came home to find an entire section of the carpet ripped up with the floor boards showing.  Curious Charlie had found a seam where two section of carpet had been pieced together and had pulled the seam out across the entire room.

I was the last person to find out this destruction had occurred.  My wife's father had come to let the dogs out while we were at work and discovered the scene.  He texted pictures to her to let her know.  Apparently, Charlie was well aware that he had done something wrong and walked right into the create when her dad was leaving.  My wife had pictures to know what she was coming home to.  I did not.

It took some time to find someone to fix the carpet for us.  The carpeter said that he had seen such things before.  Apparently, dogs are attracted to the glue that holds carpet remnants together.  So when you replace the carpet in your house, use full piece cut exactly to the size of the room.

Total Cost of Damage: About $500.
